此枚《老江南省造光绪元宝库平七钱二分》银币正面中珠圈内镌满汉文“光绪元宝”四字,圈外上端镌“江南省造”,下端镌币重“库平七钱二分”。银币背面中镌一个珍珠龙,上端镌英文“江南省”,下端镌英文币重“库平七钱二分”,左右两侧分别镌一个长六花星。

This silver coin "Made in Old Jiangnan Province, Guangxu Yuanbaoku Ping Qi Qian Er Fen" is engraved with the Chinese characters "Guangxu Yuanbao" in the central bead circle on the front. The upper part of the circle is engraved with "Made in Jiangnan Province" and the lower part is engraved with the weight of "Ku Ping Qi Qian Er Fen". On the back of the silver coin, there is a pearl dragon engraved, with the English words "Jiangnan Province" engraved on the top and the English coin weight "Kuping Seven Coins and Two Fens" engraved on the bottom. On the left and right sides, there is a long six flower star engraved.

光绪元宝是清朝光绪年间流通的货币之一。由两广总督张之洞率先引进英国铸币机器铸造银元和铜元,之后各省纷纷仿效,共有十九个省局铸造。光绪年间铸造了一系列银币,但江南省造光绪元宝由于不便于流通使用,故铸额极其稀少,更显珍贵。

Guangxu Yuanbao was one of the currencies circulating during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, the Governor General of Guangdong and Guangxi, was the first to introduce British coinage machines to mint silver and copper coins. Later, various provinces followed suit, with a total of 19 provincial bureaus minting them. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, a series of silver coins were minted, but the Guangxu gold ingots made in Jiangnan Province were extremely rare and precious due to their inconvenience in circulation and use.

江南省造光绪元宝系指清代光绪二十三年至三十一年(1897-1905年)由南京造币厂铸造的“光绪元宝”系列银币,系清代正式铸行的法定流通银币。但铸行江南省造银币的清末,已无江南省建制。

Jiangnan Province's Guangxu Yuanbao refers to the "Guangxu Yuanbao" series of silver coins minted by Nanjing Mint from the 23rd to the 31st year of Guangxu's reign (1897-1905) in the Qing Dynasty.
